The Wayang Kulit The Wayang-Kulit are shadow puppets finely carved from buffalo hide and mounted on a bamboo or buffalo horn pole; held close to a screen, lit behind by a torch, they cast eerie shadow figures for the audience in front of the screen, which enact narratives from the traditions of Javanese mysticism.
